Croner-i alternatives: how Fiscari compares
Fiscari gives you conversational, cited answers from public UK primary sources, with published pricing and no sales call to get started. Here is where it beats Croner-i — and where Croner-i is still the better buy.

Where Fiscari is stronger
Croner-i is a competent UK-only platform, and its AI Overview summarises its own commentary well. The difference is what you are grounding on and what you get back: a summary of a paid commentary library, or a cited answer from the legislation and HMRC material you would quote in correspondence.
Ask a question, get a cited answer
Not a summary of someone's commentary. Croner-i's AI Overview produces natural-language summaries of Croner-i content; Fiscari answers the question and shows you the paragraph it rests on.
Grounded in public UK primary sources
Legislation, HMRC manuals, VAT notices and tribunal decisions — free, public, and the sources that actually settle an argument with HMRC. No paid commentary layer between you and them.
Pricing you can read
Published from £19.50 per user / month. Croner-i is sold on annual contracts at quotes you cannot see up front, which makes a like-for-like comparison hard before you have committed.
Borderline questions come back flagged
Where the sources do not settle a point, Fiscari says so and shows what it found, under a published refusal policy. An AI summary of commentary does not make that distinction for you.

What Fiscari cannot do
Three things worth knowing before you switch, including the cases where Croner-i is the better buy.
-
There is no one at the end of a phone
Croner-i bundles a telephone advisory helpline and we have no equivalent. No AI tool replaces a call with a human when the real question is what you should actually tell a client on Monday morning. If that is why you subscribe, stay.
-
You lose the commentary and the KPMG content
Croner-i's own practice notes, and the KPMG UK material it carries, are not things Fiscari reproduces. If your workflow leans on either, that is a genuine loss rather than a rounding error.
-
The refusals are real
A question that turns on client facts, or that the sources genuinely do not settle, comes back refused. That is the design, and it takes adjusting to if you are used to always getting something.
Worth a look if…
-
A solo or small practice on the entry tier
If your work skews SME and owner-managed business, the day-to-day research load is squarely what Fiscari is designed for. Try it against real questions for a week.
-
A mid-tier firm with renewal imminent
Run both against twenty questions from recent file notes and compare what each actually returns, and what each refuses.
-
On Croner-i mainly for the helpline
Keep it. That is a legitimate reason to stay and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
Try it on your hardest question
Put a real client question in and check the citations yourself. Free to start, no sales call.
