David Allen’s philosophy is a 5 Step Plan to working more efficiently; a well known process of getting things done. Glasscubes is aligned to these 5 steps naturally and is the perfect tool for “getting things done”.

Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them. That’s why David Allen created Getting Things Done®. GTD is the work-life management system that has helped countless individuals and organisations bring order to chaos with stress-free productivity.

After decades of in-the-field research and practice of his productivity methods, David wrote the international best-seller Getting Things Done. Published in over 28 languages, TIME magazine heralded it as “the defining self-help business book of its time.”

GTD enables greater performance, capacity, and innovation. It alleviates the feeling of overwhelm—instilling focus, clarity, and confidence*.

    1. Capture - The information/tasks that are important to you

Collect what interests you, in whatever way works for you.  A notepad, voicemails, emails, sticky notes - capture anything that has your attention.  Personal projects, professional projects, work, social life, home projects, small and large, all the things you have to do, collect it.

Glasscubes says – “Our platform gives you this functionality online, where you can add tasks quickly, as they pop into you head.”

    2.      CLAIRIFY - Process what it means

Take everything you have and then ask can it be actioned?  Turn lists into actionable categories that make sense to you.  Is it for reference, or is it a task that needs to be actioned?  Use the 5-minute rule; if it takes less than 5 minutes then do it straight away.  Delegate if you can get it done quicker, or put into one of the action lists.

Glasscubes says – “You can now take the task and action it, or assign it to another member of the team.”

    3.      ORGANISE – Put it in the right place

Group your categories and set reminders of when you need them done. Organise them into different types of communication mediums - calls, emails and letters.  Use an online collaboration platform such as Glasscubes to organise yourself in a manner that’s easy, quick to set up, action and review.

Glasscubes says –“You can now edit the task, give it a category, and then set a time to complete it.”

     4.      REFLECT – Review frequently

Look over your lists often, daily if need be. Do a weekly action plan to organise and clean up the lists, clean your desk and clean your mind.

Glasscubes says – “You can review your tasks as often as you wish with the task listing in Glasscubes. So whether it is today, tomorrow or later, you can always track your progress.”

     5.      ENGAGE – Just do it!

Use your system to be the most effective you can be.  The more you action the more you will get done, the more your objectives will be achieved.

Glasscubes says – “We follow this 5 Step philosophy in our software to help you complete and review tasks as quickly and efficiently as possible to get your objectives achieved.”
